Coupled with a medium f/7.5 focal ratio, the ED “S” series provide a sharp, color-free image of high contrast. At only 570 mm, this is Vixen's ultimate grab-n-go APO travel scope. Transportation is easy with padded, key-lockable travel case included with telescope.
The portable ED80Sf-Porta comes coupled to Vixen's light-weight alt-az "Porta" mount. The system comes standard with giant 9x50 mm finder, 2” eyepiece adapter, dual T-thread flip-mirror with dual 1¼” eyepiece adapters, Crayford focuser with tension/lock adjustment, rotatable dual-setscrew eyepiece adapter with locking collar, 100 mm tube rings and dovetail tube plate. (Note that this model does not take 60 mm drawtube accessories.) This is an exceptionally portable system: because the weight of the scope is always over the mount, there is no need for heavy counterweights.
Standard Vixen dovetail mounting slot with lock and safety screw easily removes to reveal ¼”-20 and M8-1.25 threaded holes for custom mounting solutions. Porta mount features switchable slow-motion knobs, tension adjustment hex key, disassembly hex key, built-in hex key storage bay, round tripod tray and aluminum legs. Tripod height to top of tripod base adjusts from 70cm to 121cm.
Included case features reinforced corners, lockable latches, padded handle, rubber feet, three solid foam compartments (for OTA, flip-mirror and finder scope/stalk) and interior eggshell foam on lid. Maximum case exterior dimensions (including hardware) are 66cm x 31cm x 30cm.
