This convex Rumak mirror configuration requires a smaller secondary mirror that limits obstruction and corrects spherical and chromatic aberrations more precisely.
The combination of front lens aluminum and quartz-overcoated primary and secondary mirrors and fully baffled and coated optics helps to eliminate both off-axis comas and spherical and chromatic aberrations to produce bright and clear high-contrast images with true color rendition free from comas and distortion across the entire field of view. While using this configuration of the Cassegrain optical path results in a slower focal ratio and narrower field of view versus a similar Schmidt the optical benefits make this an ideal scope for planetary and double-star observation and astrophotography.The scope is outfitted with a dual-speed internal focusing system that allows for fast and precise focusing. A 2 eyepiece holder is included with a 1.25 adapter so an extensive amount of eyepieces and accessories can be used with this scope.
For other gear iOptron includes both a screw-on accessory holder that accepts Schmidt-Cassegrain accessories and a photo T-ring adapter. The T-ring adapter is used in conjunction with a user-supplied camera-specific T-mount for astrophotography with a DSLR. The optical tube assembly (OTA) is offered here without a mount or tripod for users who have a reliable platform or want to use it as part of a dual-OTA setup for star parties or observation/imaging rigs.
It is outfitted with a Vixen-style dovetail plate for use with compatible equatorial or alt-az mounts. This OTA's compact form factor belies its power and resolution as a versatile telescope for near- and deep-space observation and imaging.
